Reading Marriott's way at a Marriott hotel
Today was a rather impulsive day, I decided to go to a Marriott hotel on a whim. After all, I suppose things are pretty standard here. Just a hint of higher quality and finer things. But that's alright. After all, you can only find so much fulfillment from material things. One day I will own hotels that are much nicer than this. I will call it Barons hotel. It will be international and worth billions of dollars.
Anyways let me read this book Marriott's Way and enjoy the Marriot.
I do appreciate the interior design in this place, and the few plants placed here and there. The odd curvature of furniture and the warmth of high-quality oak. It's not too much but just enough. The lighting and architecture of the walls and ceilings are great as well. Just the way I like it.
I love the high-quality feel of things that just ooze out of every corner of the hotel, its corridors, and large open lobby spaces. Even the staff feels very professional and well-mannered. It is great that they are taking things seriously.
It feels somewhat surreal reading the book of the owner of this vision. Owner of a vision. Somewhere across the ocean, a man had an idea, a vision, which he brought to reality. And over dozens of countries and 2 thousand hotels, his idea, his vision, and his dream came to life. Not only did it come to life, but now it is worth 12 billion dollars (at the time this book was written).
Anyways the lighting here feels very European... I like it. It just occurred to me that not everyone can provide an experience fit for high-status people. Most average people probably have no idea what a high-quality lifestyle is like. So one must know what a high-end lifestyle is like in order to serve high-end people. Which I think is a highly overlooked aspect when people think about businesses targetting rich customers. In a way, it's an excuse to spoil yourself with expensive things, but it is true if you think about it. Like how can you serve the richest 1% when you don't even know how the service works with those businesses? How do they take care of customer support, and how do they introduce their products? You can learn from anyone, and high-end businesses are definitely one of them.
