What makes my heart sing?
I was just reading a book called "Talk like Ted", and the chapter was basically about talking your passion to move the hearts of your audience.
Steve Jobs said "intersecting the liberal arts and technology is what makes our heart sing". That's a good one (and true).
What makes my heart sing?
Well I like a challenge. I like to live larger than life, and create a fight that is akin to David vs Goliath. I see a mountain and my first thought is how to conquer it. When I see a big challenge, I like to create a plan of attack, and execute it. I like to take on challenges where 99% fail. It wouldn't be meaningful to me otherwise.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is to do the impossible, achieving an unbelievable accomplishment, it is something that inspires me. To shoot up a rocket size of a sky scraper, at a speed that is 30x that of a bullet, like Elon Musk did, that sort of thing makes my blood boil.
I want to dedicate my life to achieving something fantastic for humanity, like unlocking immortality or creating a new dating paradigm.
But to say doing what's impossible for most makes me passionate feels too relativistic, too untrue to myself.
So I need to introspect. What makes ME, and me only, truely passionate?
Well I can speak for myself right now, as I'm not really trying to win anyone's approval in my life right now.
I certainly enjoy creating grand plans and executing them. Seeing my vision slowly come to life. That does give joy. And coding is a fantastic conduit to realize this hobby.
When I have an amazing vision, I can quickly bottle it up into an app, and overnight have it accessible globally. In theory, it can be inside the phone of 8 billion people around the world. If I were to collect $1 from each and everyone, I'd have $8 billion overnight! With that I can buy a mega yacht and a giant mansion.
If that's not power, than I don't know what is.
People take it for granted that power we hold with AI and mobile phones in today's world. Never has it been easier to create software and value from it around the world. Never has it been more accessible. Never has your chance of becoming a billionaire been so high and feasible.
And through X, you can communicate with anyone. Even the most rich person in the world, Elon Musk. I've frequently communicated with people that make millions of dollars through software on X. And I take it for granted. But it is truly a special thing.
So I guess what makes my heart sing is to create a huge vision, very challenging in nature, but execute through my plans and seeing them become reality.
It's kind of like how as a kid you imagine of making a giant sand castle in your mind, and actually making it. Or try to make it as big as you can.
As silly as that sounds, I think ultimately that's what makes my heart sing.
It's like I'm going to the world, "look, look at how big my castle is. I built it".
I think that where this passion of mine leads ultimately, in it's peak form, would be to accomplish something so large, larger than life, larger than countries, larger than humanity, that my name will be remembered and echo throughout history for millenniums to come.
Now that, would make my soul sing.
Perhaps I'll get there by unlocking human immortality. Or I will unify all the countries in the world to one. Unlikely, but I could establish communication with aliens.
Whatever it is, it is a challenge I am willing to take on.
For when a tiger dies, it leaves its skin, but a man leaves his name.
Life is short, art is long.
